Dr. Arif Ahmed is Associate Professor of Health Administration at the Henry W. Bloch School of Management at the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC), where he also has a courtesy faculty appointment at the School of Dentistry. He received his Ph.D. and M.S.P.H. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his B.D.S. from the University of Dhaka. His primary research interest is in non-monetary determinants of access and utilization of health care. His research has appeared in preeminent medical and public health journals. Dr. Ahmed also directs the executive programs in healthcare leadership offered by the Bloch School.

Jenifer Allsworth, Ph.D.

Dr. Jenifer Allsworth is a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical & Health Informatics at the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC). She is a reproductive and social epidemiologist and received her Ph.D. in Epidemiology from Brown University. Before joining UMKC, she spent 7 years in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Washington University in St. Louis studying sexually transmitted infections, contraception, infertility, and adverse reproductive outcomes, including preterm delivery. Dr. Allsworth has served as a reviewer for multiple journals of women’s reproductive health and is a member of the Society for Epidemiologic Research and the Infectious Diseases Society for Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Katherine Bloemker, Ph.D.

Dr. Katherine Bloemker is an Associate Teaching Professor in Civil and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC).  She received her Ph.D. from the University of Missouri – Kansas City after receiving her B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University. Katherine teaches numerous undergraduate courses in the Civil and Mechanical Engineering department and has twice been awarded the School of Computing and Engineering Excellence in Teaching Award. Katherine’s main teaching emphases are in three-dimensional modeling, computer aided design, mechanical design, and rapid prototyping. Katherine’s Ph.D. research was in biomechanics focused specifically on musculoskeletal modeling of the lower extremities.

Deendayal Dinakarpandian, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Deendayal “Dinakar” Dinakarpandian is an Associate Professor in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering at the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC), where he also serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics. He received his Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH and his M.D. from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) in Pondicherry, India. Dr. Dinakarpandian has a multi-disciplinary background in medicine, biochemistry and computer science.

Peter Eaton, Ph.D.

Dr. Peter Eaton is Director of the Center for Economic Information at the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC), where he also serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Florida – Gainesville with a concentration in Economic Theory, Econometrics, and Economic Development. His teaching specialization is econometrics, and his research specialization is geospatial data analysis. In addition to sitting on numerous dissertation committees, Peter is the I.Ph.D. Coordinator for the Department of Economics.

Mary Gerkovich, Ph.D.

Dr. Mary Gerkovich is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical & Health Informatics at the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC). She received her Ph.D. from the University of Kansas. She has more than 30 years of experience in health research, with specific expertise in healthcare engagement and treatment adherence. In addition to co-writing more than 40 peer-reviewed journal articles and 10 book chapters, Mary has served as a reviewer on NIH and NSF study sections, and is a reviewer for professional journals.

Jennifer Goldman, M.D.

Dr. Jennifer Goldman is an Assistant Professor in Pediatrics at the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC) in the Divisions of Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology and Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Children’s Mercy Hospital and serves as a Co-Director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program. She received her M.D. from University of Kansas and completed her residency and fellowships at Children’s Mercy Hospital. In addition to providing clinical care, she is committed to research in evaluating trends in antimicrobial use and investigating both the epidemiology and potential predictors of adverse drug reactions associated with antibiotic use in children.

Mark Hoffman, Ph.D.

Dr. Mark Hoffman is the Chief Research Information Officer at Children’s Research Institute where he also serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics and the Department of Pediatrics. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and performed post-doctoral research at the National Animal Disease Center in Ames Iowa. Before joining UMKC, he spent 16 years leading genomics, public health and research initiatives at Cerner Corporation, where he was a Vice President. In addition to his peer-reviewed publications, Mark is an inventor on 17 issued patents. He recently was the PI on a University of Missouri System Interdisciplinary, Intercampus grant, ”

Mark Johnson, Ph.D.

Dr. Mark Johnson is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Oral and Craniofacial Sciences at the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC), where he also serves as a member of the Bone Biology group. He received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Minnesota through the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine and conducted post-doctoral training in molecular biology at Baylor College of Medicine, The Department of Cell Biology. Before joining UMKC, he held faculty positions at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The University of Akron and Creighton University. In addition to serving as reviewer for several journals, Dr. Johnson is a member of The American Society of Bone and Mineral Research and The American Society of Human Genetics.

Gregory King, Ph.D.

Dr. Greg King is an Assistant Professor in Civil and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC), where he also serves as Director of the Human Balance and Ambulation Research Laboratory. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas and worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Greg was recipient of the 2012 Western Chapter of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers Leadership Excellence Achievement Program Award. His research is focused on human musculoskeletal biomechanics, with particular emphasis on kinetic and kinematic characterization of human balance.

Steven Leeder is a Professor of Pediatrics and Pharmacology at the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC) and serves as the Marion Merrell Dow Endowed Chair in Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology and Division Director of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutic Innovation in the Department of Pediatrics at Children’s Mercy Hospital. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto and his Pharm.D. from University of Minnesota. His interests include the application of pharmacogenetics and pharmacogenomics to optimize drug efficacy and safety in children.

Mark Patterson, Ph.D., M.P.H.

Dr. Mark Patterson is an Assistant Professor in Pharmacy Practice and Administration at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) School of Pharmacy and also serves an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) research study preceptor for the managed care post-graduate pharmacy residents at the Kansas City Veterans Affairs Medical Center.  He received his M.P.H. from Yale University and his Ph.D. from University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Pharmacy, and completed his post-doctoral work in health services research at the Duke Clinical Research Institute.  Dr. Patterson is an active member of both Academy Health and American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, and serves as a reviewer for multiple peer-review journals including Research in Social and Administrative Pharmacy and Journal of Patient Safety.

Praveen Rao, Ph. D.
